Think big—$150 million
That was the budget of the movie titled The Meg, about a big scary shark, which I just had the opportunity to watch—crazy, right? The same was the cost of marketing and advertising this product/film. This simple and unambitious film is a digital product released on a large scale, the global scale. Think about this for a moment and consider the fact that someone invested some $300 million to create such an entertainment product. The same type of product is a book on Amazon or an online course. In this case, the business model works the same—someone pays a certain amount and gets access to the product.
How to earn millions? Think big
You have to invest a lot of money and have a lot of knowledge and experience. How do you do things like that? You have to start somehow and leverage your knowledge. Huge film studios also somehow used to start with small projects and cheap films. You too can start by publishing small things. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small product on the Internet or maybe some other small business.
First of all, you need to create products and business on the largest possible scale. These days we have the Internet and can release products on a national and even global scale. You can’t limit yourself and open a small store in your neighborhood—think globally. Maybe a small trivial product on Amazon or an online store is a better idea than a big store in a small town? Remember also, that it’s hard to make big money without any investment. A cinema movie that earns several hundred million dollars must also have cost at least tens of millions.
Start with small projects and investments. If you can invest, for example, $500 and earn 1000 in a few months, you are on the right track. Repeat and refine the process. Try to sell all around the world and think big. Someday you may be able to invest 500K and make a million, but you won’t do it if you don’t start with small products and small investments.
Fear of investing
Many of us are afraid to invest money in their first products, in their first business or in knowledge. I would even say that we are panicky about investing our hard-earned money. It’s a fairly common phenomenon, and I didn’t want to spend my savings on anything. I didn’t have much problem buying material things and spending on, for example, vacations. While, investing money in something that requires work and doesn’t promise a profit was very difficult for me. I can see that this is very difficult for many readers of my blog. Why?
If you buy, for example, a tangible thing, you spend a certain amount and have a certain value—zero risk. While investing in products, knowledge, or a company, there is no certainty about the future return on investment. After all, you can work for nothing and additionally lose money. This sounds scary, and what scares us most is that we are the ones taking responsibility for the results of our actions and investments. It’s only up to you whether, after investing even in a small online business (say, $1,500), you lose that money, or you earn $5,000 and gain a lot of new knowledge in the process.
Responsibility is the key to success
If you want to get something then you have to take full responsibility for it and take the risk. That’s the end of the story. Want more than a measly paycheck? You have to learn, act, invest and not be afraid to lose. Fear of failure stops you from acting and I see it in many people (in myself as well).
